As part of its continuing relief operations, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)—through its field office in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR)—has airlifted and delivered family food packs to the earthquake-affected families living in remote communities of Abra province.

The DSWD was able to distribute food packs in the hard-to-reach areas with the help of partners from the Tactical Operations Group 1, Tactical Operations Group 2 of the Tactical Operations Wing Northern Luzon, 505th Search and Rescue Group, and 24th Infantry Battalion Wild Cat B.

In addition, DSWD-CAR, together with the members of the Second Provincial Mobile Force Company and the Police Regional Office Cordillera, is also set to provide 350 family food packs to the affected families in Bokod, Benguet, and 402 food packs in Mankayan, Benguet.

Likewise, about 7,900 food packs from the National Resource Operations Center (NROC)—the main warehouse of the DSWD in Pasay City—are currently being delivered to the affected areas with the help of 2Go Travel Company.

The DSWD said that 59 affected families in Abra and three families in Mt. Province have already received financial help.

Through the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation, P35,000 worth of financial and burial assistance was also provided to a bereaved family in Benguet.

So far, over P5 million worth of humanitarian assistance has been provided by the DSWD-CAR, including the 750 family foods distributed in Bangued; 2,966 in Bucay; 1,118 in Lagangilang; and 517 in Villaviciosa.

Aside from food packs, the DSWD-CAR also extended laminated sacks, modular tents, and hygiene kits to the victims.

As of July 29, over P3 million standby funds, 521,758 family food packs amounting to P320 million, other food items amounting to P212 million, and non-food items amounting to P487 million are still available at the DSWD Central Office, field offices, and NROC.
